Cyber Monday!

November 28, 2011 is Cyber Monday.  Cyber Monday gives shoppers an alternative to the early morning slugfests of Black Friday.  From your home, you can purchase just about anything you want.  But, there are also risks with shopping online.  Here are a few tips you can do to protect yourself and create a safe and enjoyable online shopping experience.

1) Only enter credit card information on secure pages.  You know it is secure when there is an, "S" after http in the address bar (https://www.thisisanexampleforyoutosee.com).

2) Check your bank statements and keep all receipts.

3) Be sure the website you are on is the real one.

4) Search for better deals on other sites.  If you are looking for a product, chances are you can find it on multiple sites.  Make sure to compare prices, but remember to factor in who has the best warranty and shipping prices too.  The lowest price doesn't necessarily mean the best deal.

Farewell to Steve Jobs

This past Wednesday, Steve Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) passed away from complications related to pancreatic cancer.  Jobs was a great inventor, entrepreneur, technology pioneer, and innovator.  We leave our thoughts and prayers with his family.

Apple gives a small tribute on their homepage that reads, in part:
"Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."  Click here to see the entire tribute with a link to leave your own thoughts.

At IntelliSolve, we respect the vision of those who see a problem and create a solution to it.  They do not complain and ask for others to fix it, they instead go to work and produce solutions to make it work.  We try to do the same in our way at IntelliSolve.  Such is the reason for the development of FotoDialer.  Click here for more information on FotoDialer.

To all our Grandparents: Happy Grandparents Day!

Whether we are related biologically or not, we all have those in our lives we revere affectionately as Grandma or Grandpa.  September 11th, 2011 is the day for the celebration of Grandparents Day.  So, in honor of those who always give us a kind ear, who never fail to have delicious cookies in the cookie jar, and who love us no matter what, we want to say, "Thank you and we love you!"

Here are some facts about Grandparents day from the Grandparents-day website:
Grandparents Day was created in 1978;
The official flower for Grandparents Day is the Forget-me-not;
Grandparents Day was founded by Marian Lucille Herndon McQuade of West Virginia;
It is the first Sunday after Labor Day in September;
It was put in September to signify the, "Autumn years of life;"
Grandparents Day has three purposes: "to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children, and to help children become aware of strength, information, and guidance older people can offer."

FotoDialer was made, in part, for our wonderful Grandparents who love unconditionally, smile constantly, and are always there to lift us up.  May FotoDialer be used as a safety device for our Grandparents and be used as a tool to stay in better contact with those we love.  See FotoDialer videos at our website HERE.

A little advice about frustration, FotoDialer problems, and batteries.

I hate being frustrated!  I suppose I get frustrated about the thought of even becoming frustrated.  I can think of a couple dozen emotions I would rather have than being frustrated.  And I think I can say with some confidence that no one else likes to be frustrated either. Frustration makes it so you can't think clearly and impedes everyday activity.

Every now and then, we get a call about a problem with someones FotoDialer.  The customer is rightfully frustrated with their unit not working correctly.  And we are frustrated on our end that there is a problem with the unit at all.  Haven't we all been there?  Usually, after a few minutes, the problem is discovered and found to be a non-issue or easy fix and everyone is happy.  The solution is usually VERY simple.

Nine times out of ten, the problem is because of a low battery.  "Really?" you may think.  Yup, sometimes it is just that simple if your unit is misdialing, etc.

Too often, we see batteries that are just laying around and we use them on our electronics.  We look at the side label and see that the battery doesn't expire till November of 2016.  Wow!  We can really use them for five more years!?  Nope, you can't!  The reality is that you probably cannot consistently use any battery for that long.  The expiration date means they are somewhat usable if they have never been in use and aren't too corroded.

So, here is the helpful hint of the day to avoid some frustration:
When you get your FotoDialer, or may have problems with dialing please check the batteries.  Do not assume your batteries are 100%.  If a battery is not 100%, it will interfere with the ability of your unit to work properly.  To be safe, get alkaline (not rechargeable) batteries that are fresh from the store and still in their packaging.  The FotoDialer units almost never have problems with their ability to work properly.  In fact, I can only recall one or two times where a unit was legitimately not working correctly and needed repair.  The solution is probably low batteries.  Try this out first and then you can save yourself from some frustration.  Now, you can go back to clear thinking and great everyday activities free of stress and frustration.

Alzheimer's Caregiver-Thank You!

As I have met with the families of those who care for their loved ones with Alzheimer's, my heart goes out to them. Many become frustrated, lonely, and feel a loss of hope. They must constantly care for their loved one, be cognizant of potential dangers, and all this in addition to their usual, everyday business. It can be a heavy burden. This article writes about some caregivers in Utah who have the opportunity to care for their loved ones with Alzheimer's. Utah is expected to lead the nation in cases of Alzheimer's because the lifespan is longer there.

These reasons are why we are so pleased to offer FotoDialer as just one more tool to aid both the caregiver and the recipient of Alzheimer's. FotoDialer offers a sense of safety because the patient or the caregiver can contact emergency help with ease. Frustration stemming from the inability of the Alzheimer's recipient to dial the phone properly because of forgetting phone numbers is eliminated.  Barriers of communication with family and friends are removed.  Those with any form of dementia can typically recall events in their lives when they were happiest. So at the very least, FotoDialer can present them with an opportunity to browse through old pictures of their loved ones (we suggest placing photos when loved ones were younger so the person with Alzheimer's can remember them with greater ease). We do realize FotoDialer is only beneficial for the person with Alzheimer's when they are in the early stages of the disease. However, it still remains a useful tool for the caregiver at any stage.

My hat goes off to those who work tirelessly in behalf of those they love. This hard work often occurs without any accolades or appreciation. So, from IntelliSolve, we say THANK YOU!
