Get on the Shelf Competition

Walmart is currently doing a competition (Get on the Shelf) where inventors can submit their ideas via a YouTube video and description.  Then on March 7th, people can vote on which ideas they like.  Those who make the top 10 will go to a second round of voting.  The top three will make it to the Walmart website and the top pick will make it into Walmart stores!  They will also receive help manufacturing etc.

This competition is in place to get superb products into Walmart that wouldn't be able to otherwise because of lack of visibility.

We think FotoDialer is perfect for this!  FotoDialer will give the ability to communicate back to people who have lost that ability.  Or, at the very least, it will make communication easier for us all.

Please take the time to vote for FotoDialer starting March 7th!  Feel free to pass along the information to all those you know.  Use email and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and let's get FotoDialer into Walmart stores so more people can benefit from this amazing tool!

Thank you!

Suggestions to Reduce the Risk for Dementia

I saw a good article the other day detailing five ways to reduce the risk for dementia.  Click here to see the article.  The article gives ideas all of us can use to prevent having forms of dementia when we get older.  Though these ideas are not surefire actions to prevent getting Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, they do seem to be great aids in prevention.  So, on to their list:

1) Solve a Crossword.  Brain stimulation builds brain cells and connections in the brain.

2) Play an instrument.  The article suggests learning to play early on in life pays off when you are older.

3) Break a Sweat.  Raising your heart rate and breathing harder can reduce dementia risk later on.  Exercise can also slow dementia if someone already has it.

4) (My favorite) Phone a Friend.  Being social can keep your brain young and active.  So, get your FotoDialer to phone your friends and family to plan activities.

5) Order the Salmon.  Fish has been called, "brain food" in the past and for good reason.  To quote the article, "Brain scans showed that people who ate baked or broiled—but not fried—fish at least once a week had better preserved gray matter in key areas of the brain. The researchers calculated that eating fish weekly cut Alzheimer’s risk by almost five-fold."

Hopefully doing these five things can be what it takes to reduce our risks for dementia.  And remember to get your FotoDialer based on tip number 4, "Phone a Friend."

Memory Pill?

Caring.com has posted an article describing how a memory pill may be a reality in the near future.  Mice that were genetically modified to block an immune molecule called, "PKR," were observed to have enhanced brain function due to the increased neuron communication.

The researchers then found a molecule that could block PKR instead of needing to genetically modify the mice.  The mice were injected with the molecule.  The results were astounding when tested against normal mice!  The regular mice took days to remember where to find an object, while the mice without PKR learned after ONE try.

This appears to be an important step in treating memory problems and diseases like Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.  Here is to hoping they continue to make breakthroughs that can treat or even reverse the effects of dementia.

Last Minute Christmas Gifts . . .

If you are like me, you are not even close to completing your Christmas shopping.  My wife has been done with her Christmas present shopping for a week and would be able to give me the infamous procrastinator label.  One of the obvious negatives of being a procrastinator is constantly being in a rush.  So I feel the pain of my fellow procrastinators we occasionally get inquiries from who call or email with a hint of panic in their communication.  These like-minded procrastinators wonder if they can get their FotoDialer shipped to them before Christmas.

Well, I have good news for them and you!  We typically ship the same day FotoDialers are ordered (Monday-Friday before 4:30pm MST, except for holidays).  Units typically arrive in 2-4 business days in the United States.  Even some international orders will usually arrive before Christmas if ordered within the next few days.  For example, if a FotoDialer is ordered today (12/14/11) for Calgary Canada, it will arrive by Wednesday, December 21 using UPS Ground.  Expedited orders can be done, but that will cost a bit more.

Hopefully, the news that you can still get your FotoDialer before Christmas will not lull procrastinators into waiting even longer.  You do have some time, but not too long if you want to surprise your loved one with the device that will renew their ability to use the telephone.  You can purchase FotoDialer by clicking HERE!

Cyber Monday!

November 28, 2011 is Cyber Monday.  Cyber Monday gives shoppers an alternative to the early morning slugfests of Black Friday.  From your home, you can purchase just about anything you want.  But, there are also risks with shopping online.  Here are a few tips you can do to protect yourself and create a safe and enjoyable online shopping experience.

1) Only enter credit card information on secure pages.  You know it is secure when there is an, "S" after http in the address bar (https://www.thisisanexampleforyoutosee.com).

2) Check your bank statements and keep all receipts.

3) Be sure the website you are on is the real one.

4) Search for better deals on other sites.  If you are looking for a product, chances are you can find it on multiple sites.  Make sure to compare prices, but remember to factor in who has the best warranty and shipping prices too.  The lowest price doesn't necessarily mean the best deal.
